Sammie Givens (Diamond Medics) Postgame Interview

Sammie Givens showed his muscle in the game against Team Eddie Jones, driving to the hole without fear and running the floor with a purpose. We were able to catch up with him after the Medic's win and his 17 point performance.

Diamond Medics hand Team Eddie Jones their first defeat of the season

A game that was supposed to be a hard fought battle between two good teams turned into a surprising dominating victory by the Diamond Medics as they were able to defeat Team Eddie Jones 58-40. The Medics started off with an 8-0 lead and never trailed. Team Eddie Jones were able to get the deficit down to 7 in the second half, but a strong push towards the end led by Sammie Givens (17 points) helped the Medics improve their record to 3-2 on the season. Postgame interview with Interstate Realty's Bradley Wannamaker

After Interstate Realty's victory, I was able to catch up to Bradley Wannamaker, the high school grad who will be going to the University of Pittsburgh to play ball in the fall.

Interstate Realty dominates Team Andre Iguodala 96-55

Another route in the Sonny Hill Summer League. Interstate Realty controlled the game versus Team Andre Iguodala. Team Iguodala sported a lot of younger players, and that inexperience came to play as they turned the ball over many times and were unable to get a flow on offense against the more experienced Interstate Realty ball club. Check out the highlights of the big win for Interstate Realty.

Team Jason Lawson routs Team GAD Beacon 68-48

Team Jason Lawson got off to a very quick start, building up a 10-0 lead to start the game, and never looked back. Team GAD Beacon were just outmatched as Vernon Harrell, Tamir Johnson and company ran past them and Jason Lawson improved their record to 4-1. Check out the highlights.

More Highlights Coming Tonight!

Tonight we will be posting up highlights from last weeks games from the Sonny Hill Tournament: Team Jason Lawson vs. Team GAD Beacon, and Team Interstate Realty vs. Team Andre Iguodala. Check right back here to Digitex-U Sports for the action!

Team Malik Allen edge by Team Sam Cozen

In a very competitive, very entertaining game, Team Malik Allen were able to get their first win in the summer league season and hand team Sam Cozen their first lost by hanging on for a 61-58 win. Despite a very impressive performance for Team Sam Cozen from Kenny Moore, the Senior from University City, Team Malik Allen were able to use a great team effort, led by Prep Charter senior Marcus Morris, who had 14 points and was a lot of trouble for Sam Cozen to match up against defensively. Kenneth Spotwood, the senior from Frankfort, did an excellent job of handling the ball and setting the pace for Team Malik Allen. This was definitely one of the better games in the tournament thus far, and there were plenty of highlights.

Postgame interview with Larry Loughery from the Diamond Medics

Larry Loughery dominated the post in the Medics/Alvin Williams game, and I was able to catch up with him afterwards to find out how the Medics were able to do so well.

The Diamond Medics dominate Team Alvin Williams

This game started off as a back and forth contest, but once the second half came around, the Diamond Medics took Team Alvin Williams by storm and just outran them and took it into the paint as they pleased. The Medics won the game in a blowout, 92-61. Click on the headline for the highlights.

Team Sam Cozen defeat The Medics

***Click on the title of this post for highlights from the game***

The first game of Digitex-U Sports featured Team Sam Cozen vs. Team Medics in the Sonny Hill Community Involvement Basketball league at McGonigle Hall at Temple University. It was a good back and forth game that the Medics controlled for the most part. The tide would change halfway through the second half, as the short-handed Medics (only 6 dressed players) seemed to run out of energy, and Team Sam Cozen seemed to gain a whole bunch of it. The late charge was sparked by the motivated play of Nafis Rics, who played inspired defense and drove to the lane fearlessly in the latter stages of the second half. I was able to catch up with him after the game and the link for that interview is up.
