Ferguson Myrick of the Huskies led all scorers with 23 points, with most of them coming inside the paint. He was shaken up in the first half after getting kicked in the head, causing him to lay on the floor for about a minute and subsequently rest on the bench. He came back in, however, and seemed motivated, especially in the second half. Myrick was assisted by Jesse Morgan who had 17 points and proved to be a relentless threat to the Cavaliers with drives to the inside coming from as far out as the perimeter.
Girard kept the game close in the first half due to inspired play from Terrell Candelleria and Omar Ford-bey in particular, who finished the game with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Despite the Cavaliers efforts, they were not able to get over the hump that was the Huskies first half lead - getting it as close as 2 points headed to halftime, but not able to get it any closer.
Prep Charter turned on the heat in the second half and ran more fast breaks despite their short bench. The game slowed down halfway into the second half due to an increase in foul calls and free throw shots. This worked to the Huskies' favor, as the clock does not stop in this summer league for free throws until the last two minutes of each half. Thus Prep Charter was able to add to their lead and burn off precious time, and the end result was an 18 points victory for the Huskies.
Prep Charter moves on to the Girard College Summer League Championship Game which will be held at the Cheesman A. Herrick Fieldhouse on Monday Night at 6:30pm. Digitex-U Sports will be there for coverage.
Jesse Morgan of Prep Charter slams it home to help the Huskies en route to their semi-finals victory Wednesday night
