James Flint won an entertaining contest over Bob Black, 83-77, and will play Team Aaron McKie in the Sonny Hill College Division Championship Game tonight at 8:30pm.
James Flint was led by Reggie Reading from Villanova, who led all scorers with 23 points. He was followed by Shane Clark (also from Villanova) who had 20 points, and Nate Edwards from Kutztown who had 18 points.
Team Bob Black had the lead for most of the first half, led by the gritty play of Mike Green, who made outside shots and drove to the basket well, and Andreas Schrieber of Upenn, who started the game with a flurry of inside dominance that James Flint seemed unable to contain. James Flint mounted a comeback due to inspired play from their dynamic trio discussed earlier, and the game went through many lead changes and much emotional drama.
With the game - and a trip to the championship - on the line, Reggie Reading stepped up with a clutch three from high left followed by an enormous dunk that seemed to shift the momentum permanently in the favor of James Flint. And Bob Black, with only 6 players dressed for the game, did not have enough fuel to mount a late comeback, despite James Flint having some late game troubles at the foul line.
James Flint moves on to the Sonny HIll Championship Game
